Planning Your Oil
Portrait Commission
To ensure that your oil portrait painting not only meets, but exceeds, your every expectation, Marvin Mattelson will seamlessly guide you through the process of planning every detail of your commissioned painting.
What do you want your portrait to say?
Each portrait subject is unique, and based on my years of experience, I understand exactly what questions to ask in order to insure the best possible outcomes. I have developed an intuitive sense of getting to the heart of their needs, so even if you lack the proper terminology to express precisely what you want, I pride myself on being able to not only meet but greatly exceed all expectations.
Whether you are very clear about what you're looking for, or uncertain as to which approach is right for you, Marvin's vast experience will allow him to guide you on the best possible path forward.
In addition to representing the appearance and essence of the sitter, every portrait painting makes a statement. What story would you like your portrait to conveyl?
A well crafted portrait will last for centuries. Consider carefully what you want your portrait to say about the person being depicted. Where will it hang and what size should it be? How much of the subject do you want to include? Are there certain additional elements you'd like depicted? Should the subject's wardrobe be formal or informal, do you want any personal items included, or is there a particular location you want for the background?
Every portrait painting that Marvin creates serves a distinct and appropriate purpose. Portraits can range from very casual depictions of a spirited child to highly formal institutional acknowledgement of a noteworthy career achievement. A portrait serves as the ultimate gift, one that will be cherished forever.
